Summer Solstice Blessings, Everyone!
The 21st of June marks the summer solstice for those in the Northern Hemisphere. It is the day the sun is in the highest position in the sky and the most extended period of daylight. It feels celebratory and is the perfect time to recognize the light that resides in all living things. For me, it feels very unifying.
If you are looking for a simple way to connect with the energy of Solstice and don’t have time to go to a big event or are not sure how to do something on your own, this simple little practice might be just what you need!
I invite you to pause here and go outdoors. Take a moment to breathe in the light. Notice how it feels as it illuminates your whole body. Now carry this illumination down through your body, out the soles of your feet, and into the earth. Rest here in knowing what it is like to feel grounded and connected.
Reflect on one thing in your life that you really want to flourish. How will you care for it to support its growth? Now bring your hands to prayer pose in front of your heart and, taking a deep breath, raise your open arms above your head and see yourself pulling the light down from the sky and surrounding yourself in a beautiful glow of nourishment as you exhale and visualize that which you want to grow. Do this several times and notice yourself truly opening and welcoming in this stage of growth.
With your left hand on your heart and your right hand reaching above, give profound thanks to the light that shines through the sun, the moon, the stars, the infinite light where every seed of possibility is held, waiting to manifest in abundance. Now switch hands, placing your right hand on your heart and your left hand reaching down toward the ground, offering love and appreciation to the earth where those seeds of possibility turn into reality.
Take time to notice how it feels to be held by the light above and the earth below and what a privilege it is to be a human experiencing life in the physical form.
My wish for you on this Solstice is that you never take our beautiful earth for granted and that you allow the light to fill you with infinite ways to always shine brightly.
